Technician Takeover: Kacy Burt

2020 brought us many hurdles to work through and our field staff never lost sight of their priorities. Thankfully, some things never change. Our technicians and installers did not lose their passion for working with our customers. They continued to enjoy installing new garage door designs and repairing garage door systems. We pride ourselves on our installers and technicians being professional experts in the door industry. What we don’t always get to see is how much they enjoy working with our homeowners and bringing ease and happiness to their homes.

We walked and talked with one of our seasoned field technicians to get a look inside his typical day and what drives him to succeed.

Kacy Burt, Residential Service Technician – 16 years

Why do you prefer being part of our service team?

Kacy: I love quick, fast jobs that enable me to make somebody happy in a short amount of time.

What is the longest service job you have performed?

Kacy: My longest service job in recent memory is when somebody backed into the garage door. It is not uncommon. The door came out of the track completely and they had it resting out of the garage on 2 ladders with their vehicle underneath.

If you could give homeowners ONE piece of advice for their garage door, what would it be?

Kacy: Lubricate the door, lubricate the hinge, the rollers, the springs and pulleys every year. We perform this and many other tasks in our annual maintenance service.

What is the most common issue you see with residential garage door service?

Kacy: That would be a broken spring OR issues caused by a simple lack of lubrication.

How long is the average service call?

Kacy: A normal service call will last 45-60 minutes.

Our January marketing theme is Winter Maintenance. What is one tip you have for maintaining a garage door in the winter compared to any other season?

Kacy: Most definitely, in the winter, it’s going to come down to keeping the door properly lubricated. Lubrication is always the number one priority to keep the entire system running smooth and efficient.
